Illumination for Fire Fighters

Fire fighters often need extra illumination while fighting fire, at night or at a dimly lit area. It takes a lot of muscle to handle a spraying nozzle. It is not practical to spare another hand to use a handheld torch light. uTurbine can be used to harvest energy from the powerful water flow to light up a fire fighter's surrounding. No wires. No batteries.

ITRI has successfully demonstrated fluid-driven lighting directly integrated inside a nozzle. This innovation has received several international design awards. We realize though that it is easier to provide lighting as an attachment to existing nozzles instead of replacing the nozzles in the field. With that in mind, we have introduce the FNA08 nozzle attachment.

Illumination is often needed for search and rescue missions when there is no fire, or after fire has been put off. FNA08 contains rechargeable batttery which is automatically charged up while water is spraying. After water is no longer flowing, a switch on the FNA08 can be used to manually turn on and off the LED light as needed.
