uTurbine Technology
goodXense has partnered with Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) to commercialize its micro turbine technology. ITRI's Dr. Evin Liao has made possible a micro turbine that is efficient and reliable enough to harvest energy from even low-pressure water pipelines in typical households. We are calling it a μTurbine.

A turbine is a rotary engine that extracts energy from a fluid flow and converts it into useful work. 'μ' is the greek letter (mu) that signifies micro form factor. It also represents the ubuiquitous application opportunity. μTurbine utilizes fluid flow to generate electrical energy that can eliminate expensive power connections or laborious battery replacements. It can be used to enable batteryless wireless sensors.
μTurbine is the micro turbine that powers ubiqutous micro sensors.
The first μTurbine products to be commercialized are fire nozzle and fire sprinkler attachments that provides much needed illumination from water flow. Below is an enlarged picture of the μTurbine inside a fire nozzle prototype. Many exciting applications are under development.
